South Shore Industries LTD

A recognized leader in North American furniture manufacture, South Shore Industries was established in 1940 and has been making furniture for three generations. Employing a team of over 1000 employees in three factories in Quebec, their assembled and ready-to-assemble furniture has a reputation for quality and excellence at affordable prices for today's family. What ever your style, you will find furniture that suits you. Conscious of every detail, they give you affordable, practical and up to date furniture. South Shore Furniture, A Smart Choice!

In 1940 Eugène Laflamme established South Shore Industries by buying a bankrupt wooden toy manufacturing business previously owned by Pierre and Jean de Ste-Croix-de-Lotbinière. Understanding the seasonal nature of the toy business, South Shore diversified production to include kitchen tables and chairs. The factory was rebuilt on the original site in 1941 and again in 1951 after it was damaged by fire. When the wooden furniture market suffered with the appearance of Chrome furniture in 1952, South Shore expanded its product range to include bedroom furnishings.

In 1970 Guy Laflamme succeeded his father as managing director and expanded the existing production at the Ste-Croix factory by incorporating Morrissette et frères. In 1978 South Shore was joined by J.W. Kilgour Ltd. of Coaticook. Over the years all 3 factories have undergone several phases of investment and expansion to make South Shore Industries Ltd. what it is today.

Jean Laflamme joined the company in 1986 and Guy Laflamme designated him President in 1999 while maintaining the position of President of the Board of Directors. Jean Laflamme represents the third generation at the head of South Shore Industries Ltd.
